{"id":1796,"date":"2019-08-09T14:10:15","date_gmt":"2019-08-09T13:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hypervlab.co.uk\/?p=1796"},"modified":"2019-08-09T14:10:25","modified_gmt":"2019-08-09T13:10:25","slug":"recover-a-deleted-active-directory-object","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hypervlab.co.uk\/?p=1796","title":{"rendered":"Recover a Deleted Active Directory Object"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 3<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/hypervlab.co.uk\/2019\/08\/enabling-active-directory-recycle-bin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">previous post<\/a>, I covered the principles of enabling the Active Directory Recycle Bin.<br>Now is this post, I will cover how to utilise the recycle bin and restore some accidentally deleted users and computer objects. <br><strong>NOTE: <\/strong>This will all take place under the Active Directory Administrative Center &#8211; Not the Users and Computers MMC Window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So in the ad.hypervlab.co.uk domain, we currently have some example computers and users which will be used for testing, there are HYPERVLAB-PC01 and HYPERVLAB-USER01 and 02, Each has been placed within its own OU to show the ability to restore to the same place.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As shown in the previous post, Once the Active Directory Recycle bin has been enabled there is an extra Organisational Unit created &#8216;Deleted Objects&#8217; this is where we will go to recover the deleted objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/hypervlab.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/image-59-1024x540.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1793\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hypervlab.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/image-59-1024x540.png 1024w, https:\/\/hypervlab.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/image-59-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/hypervlab.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/image-59-768x405.png 768w, https:\/\/hypervlab.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/image-59.png 1423w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example One: Restoring a Computer Object<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The HYPERVLAB-PC01 computer object currently resides under: <br><strong><em>ad.hypervlab.co.uk\/HypervLAB\/Computers\/HYPERVLAB-PC01<\/em><\/strong><br>It was brought to our attention that a user couldn&#8217;t log onto the machine and was prompted with a trust relationship error.
